Let us introduce you to the IEE RB26 Individual Throttle Body Drive-by-Wire (DBW) system, which allows you to pack all the benefits of drive-by-wire technology onto your RB26 while retaining your individual throttle bodies and OEM RB26 look and reliability.

Our RB26 ITB DBW kits have been proven worldwide since 2019 to be a highly reliable ITB DBW conversion available on the market.

Our system uses a throttle actuator from the German automaker BMW, specifically from the E46 generation (2000–2006). A total of 85,766 cars used this actuator, which was also fitted to a handful of other BMW models that received the S54 engine. These throttle actuators were designed to drive a 6-individual throttle body system, each with its own return spring. Due to the load of 6 return springs, throttle shafts, blades, levers, and more, BMW and Pierburg developed a throttle actuator capable of heavy lifting.

A crucial part of any individual throttle system is maintaining reliability and consistency during throttle actuation under high load. A throttle system should retain return springs on the throttle shaft to ensure the throttles return in case of a fault, which would be detected by data from the throttle position sensor on the throttle shaft and the pedal position sensor. Therefore, the throttle motors they designed needed to drive the throttles responsively and overcome the load that no other throttle actuators could handle.

Our RB26 ITB DBW Basic Kit is assembled specifically for custom builds and DIY enthusiasts looking to tailor the install to their requirements. This kit includes all the essential components needed to get your throttle system up and running.

Important Notes
- We highly recommend using a DC motor driver to operate the throttle actuator at maximum efficiency regardless what ECU you are using.
- A correctly assembled throttle system with very low rotational resistance will generally operate around 4-5 amps.
- Users retaining the factory twin-turbo setup may need to address the coolant tubes running to and from the turbos to maintain full circulation. Our heater tube does not accommodate these small hoses, which the factory heater tube does. Alternatively, you can plumb it back into the rear block fitting where the water supply to the oil/water heat exchanger used to go.
- The throttle actuator will not fit if your OEM RB26 oil/water transfer unit is still in place, as the motor comes in contact with the housing. A universal sandwich plate is recommended.

Customisable Options
- The grommet option is either to seal the hole between cabin and engine bay, or sleeved grommet which allows you to route wiring through and then cable tie it off to seal correctly.
